Student Illness & Injury

Illness and Return to School

The health and well-being of all our students is a top priority. Please take a moment to review the following protocols regarding illness and determining when your student can return to school.

  • Students diagnosed with or suspected of having a contagious illness should not be sent to school. If they display symptoms at school, parents/guardians will be contacted and the student will be sent home.
  • Students must be kept out of school until symptoms no longer exist. Students must be fever-free without fever-reducing medication, symptom-free from emesis (vomiting), and/or asymptomatic from other illnesses for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

Injury and Return to School

Any student who has sustained an injury that requires restrictions during the the healing process should provide medical documentation noting the injury, outlining the restrictions, and indicating the duration of the restrictions. This should be sent to the clinic, our P.E. teacher, Mrs. Robinson, to the student's homeroom teacher, and to our After School Care director if the student is in ASC.

Any student who has been injured and is required by a medical professional to use an assistive device such as crutches, brace, a wheelchair, etc. should bring medical documentation confirming the use, duration of use, restrictions, and any special accommodations that may be needed for the student. This should be sent to the clinic, our P.E. teacher, Mrs. Robinson, to the student's homeroom teacher, and to our After School Care director if the student is in ASC.

Chronic Diseases, Disorders, and Other Health Concerns

If your child has a condition that needs additional consideration or accommodation, please send a note or email to our nursing team indicating the condition and requested accommodations so they can determine whether they need to schedule a meeting with you and what additional information or forms they may need to develop the best protocol.
