GET INVOLVED
Leading by Example
We're here to help you get started on your volunteer journey as a family member. For the 2026-2027 school year, we are asking each family to complete 10 hours of service to our school through classroom support, chaperoning, or volunteering with our amazing PTO. Need ideas? Click here!
How to get started
- Complete Diocesan Safe Environment requirements
- Review the Volunteer Handbook linked below
- Watch for PTO sign-ups and volunteer announcements from the school
- Reach out to PTO leaders or school staff with questions
- Log Family Volunteer Hours using the FACTS app or website. Click on the FAQ's below for instructions on how to log your family's hours.
LIFE CHANGING
Sometimes volunteerism turns into a calling.
Admissions Director Anne Leigh Bisese started her journey by volunteering one day a week in the front office when her daughters were students here.
Our G4/G5 Instructional Assistant (and SMCS alum!), Trisha Potter, began volunteering with us in high school. Just look at her now!
Room Parents turned faculty members include Mrs. Benton, Mrs. Trout, and Mrs. Turner. Mrs. Kirk and Mrs. Castle Hamm also served our PTO before becoming staff members.
FAITH IN ACTION
Student Volunteerism
Faculty and staff will work alongside you as parents to model the benefits of service. Throughout the year, teachers across all grade levels provide opportunities for students to serve our parish, our neighbors at St. Mary's Woods Retirement Community, and the broader Richmond area through regular campaigns, donation drives, and weekly collections at School Masses that are directed to local charities through St. Mary's Human Concerns Committee.
Volunteer requirements for Middle School are discussed mainly during Theology Classes. If you have questions about student volunteer requirements (20 hours per year independent of the 10 family hours), please reach out to
Mr. Hicks, our IB Coordinator or
Mr. Stewart, our Middle School Theology teacher.
